Protecting Your Tribe—and Your Creativity

The monkeys from other tribes don’t care about ours. Monkeys understand tribes – to not care about ‘haters’.

Villagers and city dwellers know it, too. We have to take care of ourselves and our tribe.

The same applies to your creativity and life projects. Decisions shouldn’t be made based on who doesn’t like it, but who does.

My grandmother told me, maybe yours did too, “every one has to say good about you.” But she likely meant everyone in the tribe. This small detail often goes unnoticed, and it leaves us confused.

The last part of Creativity needs you to converge and bring together different aspects of your work and show a finished product.

Remember if you are on stage, and your audience is smiling and appreciating your work. But then you notice one face which is not smiling nor responding. Assumptions start flowing, you focus on that one negative.

Trying to please everyone can lead us to disrespect our own lives and creative projects. We end up absorbing negativity, not setting boundaries, and leaving our work vulnerable.

If this resonates—if boundaries and defining your “tribe” have become challenges in your creative projects and life in general —make this your priority. Make protecting your tribe and your boundaries an important sub project within your projects.
